Dog tooth’s coil protectors are designed to fit along either side of an aluminum or steel material coil. Made from durable high density polyethylene (HDPE), our plastic coil edge protectors offer a secure, immovable buffer between the chains and the material coil, protecting both from potential contact damage. They still secure the chains in place, and prevent the coil from shifting around during transportation without causing damage to either one. Even better, our coil protector products are reusable across multiple trips before their integrity deteriorates.
Material: Made from ½” thick injection molded HDPE
Use: Suitable for coils with interior diameters ranging from 19”-26”, with customization available on request
Risks to Material Coils during Flatbed Trucking Transportation
One of the biggest risks to the quality of raw material coils, like steel and aluminum coils, is damage during transportation. Coils shipped on flatbed trucks are typically held in place through strong chain ratchet binders, which secure the coil to the trailer bed and prevent it from shifting around during shipping. Despite this, due to the nature of delivery by road, there are always going to be risks of damage, especially to the interior diameter of the coil and its edges from shifting around a little on the bed itself. Plus, the constant metal on metal contact from the chains themselves can also damage the coils, reducing their quality and usability, as well as the chain binders themselves which reduces their repeat usability in shipping.
